Sky at 7.5 weeks

10/26/03 Hi Guys, Just a little note to let you know how the first night went, GREAT!!!!! I got up this morning around 6:15 and woke her up to take her out and feed her so I could be able to spend a little time with her before the rest of the gang got up.  She is a sweetheart she follows me all over she even went to my back door and sat there crying for me to let her out, luck or not you can't get much better then that for a new puppy.

Again, I would like to Thank the both of you for all your time and patience you spent with us, choosing was VERY difficult it was a beautiful litter that's for sure.Take Care and we will keep in touch, Fondly, Deb Balmes.

11/8/03: Hi Guys,We had our first snow fall today and Sky seemed very curious about it.I left on the answering machine but when I took her to the vet she weighed in at 16 lbs 1 oz at 9 weeks old. We are all enjoying her sooooo much she is a very special little girl, thank you again you guys are great. Deb.

11/16/03  Hi Guys, wanted to update you on my sweet little Sky a.k.a. devil dog she no longer is that cuddly little baby we brought home just a few weeks ago she has come into herself, were not quite sure what herself is yet, thank goodness she is so darn cute or she would be in big trouble. Fearless is looking down the mouth of a Mastiff and not giving a darn and jumping at it's face and biting it's lips and ears and bringing a 200 lb dog to it's knees that's fearless.  I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as we are enjoying Sky, sit back relax and have a good laugh on me. Fondly Deb

Sadie at 3 months old

Blackrock's Windward Mark"Sadie" and the Berks - Dublin, Ohio

4/8/04 Sadie is getting along great. She never gets tired and is always into something. I had her at a club trial last weekend (Ohio Valley Retriever Club) running the puppy marks and I'll tell you what - she goes! I love it. I'll send you some photos as we start doing more training now that the weather is getting better and we are into daylight saving time. Congratulations on the new litters. Have a good Easter. We'll be in touch.Regards,David Berk

3/19/07  Dale ~It's been awhile and the dogs are 3 1/2 years now (Belize x Bravo 2003) so I thought I would give you an update on how Sadie is doing. I hope all is well with everyone at Black Rock. I can't believe 3 years have passed already.  From a conformation standpoint Sadie topped out at about 52 lbs. (in good condition), has a nice coat and if I measure straight up her front leg to the top of her neck/back she's at about 21 inches. She's not a large dog but as we discussed, she is athletic and like Bravo seems to have endless energy when she's retrieving something. As you know, it's usually a good 2+ years before labs settle down and Sadie was no exception, more like 3 years actually. She's a great dog in the house now and pretty much has the run of the place. She loves people and always wants to be where you are.I laid the foundation (obedience, force fetch, collar conditioning, yard work) before that though and have managed to do some training here on my own (steadiness, marking, currently starting on blind retrieves) and she gets exercised everyday. There are a couple clubs in the area and I've started training again and I think Sadie has enough natural talent that the transition shouldn't be too hard so if that all goes well I'm going to run some Junior hunt tests in April and get back into the game. I'll keep you posted on how the hunt tests go. I still want to put a Master Hunter title on her and we'll go as far as we can. I have attached some pictures that you might enjoy. There's also a short video of Sadie's water entry so you can see her enthusiasm there. Take care and God bless.  All the best, David Berk  Cary, NC.

Marianne McLean and kids with Tessa at 7.5 weeks old - Noblesville, Indiana.

11/13/03  Everything is going well with Tessa. She is quite the "outgoing" young lady that we all "pegged" her to be. She is not timid in any way. She "jumped" right in with the other dogs at the McLean household. The trip home was fairly quiet, and her first night went great! She loves running around outside with Liberty- our 10 month old. They have become great playmates. She would prefer to be free outside, rather than in her crate, but has learned that there is a time for each. She is eating well, loves water, and is listening pretty good for a 10 1/2 week old. We are really enjoying her. She is "fearless" ! We will send you a picture very soon.  Thanks for your email. Tessa is really a beautiful girl.  Take Care-  The McLeans.
