'Black Rock's Double Chocolate Stout' with Brad

5/2/07, Hi Dale,Hope all is well with you. Just thought I would drop you a line with a Bear update! We took him to the lake to go swimming for the first time Sunday. It was the cutest thing I have witnessed. He was hopping around, pawing at the water. Then he finally jumped in. Took him about twenty minutes of hopping around, then the instincts took over! As of last week, baby Bear weighs 62 lbs! He is getting cuter and cuter every day! He has a nice physique on him and his head is becoming more square.....very handsome boy. He is the star of the neighborhood with all of the kids.  This upcoming Monday will be Bear's first obedience class. I am looking forward to that. Take care, Dawn

1/29/07 Hi Dale,  I took Bear to the vet on Thursday. My "beefy tostada" weighs..........30 LBS.! I was a little surprised. I thought maybe he was around 23 to 25 lbs. My "beefy tostada" has a little paunch. Bear is completely house and crate trained. Bear is so ready and eager to learn at this point. I am currently "leash" training him. He is doing fairly well. Although every now and then he bites on the leash.  The boys think it is hysterical when he gets the puppy crazies. It is quite humorous. He will run like a madman thru the entire house, stop at his food dish, attack it, then run thru the house, then lay right down (like OK, I'm done now!). Bear absolutely loves the snow. We are really having a fun time with him. Bear has been on sleds. He absolutely loves going downhill with me on the sled and also loves the night walks. I love this dog to pieces. I can't stress enough what a wonderful addition he is to our family. Bear is my "exuberant" greeter. He has the morning routine down to a science. He waits patiently while each one of us gets up one by one.....wagging his tail so eager to say good morning to each one of us. Also, to any human being he sees....he must say hello! Love the wagging tail! (he is such a lovebucket!) Have a good night, Dawn

Hi Dale, We hope you had a nice Christmas. I thought I would drop you a line with a Bear update. We took him to the vet today. 17 lbs., 13 oz! He is eating very well!   His body looks like he was dipped in chocolate!  Bear loves his crate. I have the blanket that I rubbed on Belmont in the crate and he sleeps with it every night. On Christmas day, Bear took the blanket out of the crate and dragged it around the house.....that was the only day Bear did that....it was quite cute. He is about 70% "potty" trained (sounds like I am having baby chatter J .............Oh yeah, he is my baby!) . We absolutely LOVE our new addition. Our "hunk of burning love" has been a great addition to our family.  I know you can appreciate puppy chatter........I must sign off, Bear is crying for me....it is our snuggle time!  Take care, Dawn

Bear has the cutest personality. He has a pillow and blankets in his crate. His new thing is.....when we are watching TV at night....he will go to his crate, pull out his pillow and his panda....bring it by the couch and lay down on his pillow! No joke!  I did forget to mention when I was at the vet, she commented how gorgeous and shiny his coat was (his adult fur) and actually asked me if I put something on it to make it shine...gel or something else (of course I didn't, he is just naturally handsome!). Beaming again!

Brian McClelland and Family with Black Rock St. Nicholas "Chol"

2/2/07  Here are some updates of (Mr. Green Collar) “Chol” He is about 34 pounds now at the 14 week mark and is due later this month to get his adult shots and wormer. He is doing great even with the sharp puppy teeth on everything he can get his mouth on. The water is still too cool to see how he likes it but we have been to the creek and he has had his feet in prior to it turning really cold. He is very smart but very determined sometimes to have his way. We have “alpha” dog discussions several times per week, but it is getting much better. I want his spirit along with his obedience. I will try and keep you abreast of Chol’s growing up. Brian

Just a brief update and some pictures of Chol. He now weights in at around 23 pounds and is always ready for action. He is starting to learn the basic commands and is eager to explore with me around the farm. I have had him around the creek put have not tried to get him in the water other than his feet so far. This may have to wait until it is a little warmer and the water is not as high. It should be fun the next few weeks as his chewing slows down and his interest in retrieving increases. I try and keep you posted as to his growth. He has been to the vet for his shots and wormer. Brian McClelland
