Black Rock Labradors strives to breed the best all around Labrador for show, field, and companion, which is a quality dog with sound temperament and body.

In my breeding program, I believe Labradors should be true to the AKC breed standard as well as free from inheritable health conditions. I place my puppies in wonderful lifelong homes. All of my breeding labs have been screened by Orthopedic Foundation for Animals joint and heart clearances, eye clearances including CERF and Optigen and stud dogs have DNA profiles & are all microchips.

All my puppies are whelped and raised in my home, so they are the center of constant attention. They leave for their new homes no sooner than 8 weeks of age. Before they leave with their new families, they are vaccinated for their age (we follow 6, 9 & 12 weeks and annually thereafter), wormed and monthly thereafter as included in Heartgard Plus). They also are microchipped, have had 6-week vet check up for any health and congenital problems. New owners received a puppy folder containing the following: a record of immunization, a schedule, follow-up care instructions and health booklets, a pedigree, copies of parent's health clearances and pictures, an American Kennel Club registration application

Our puppies are well socialized to include people, children, dogs, toys, wings and water (weather permitting). I do not remove dewclaws on my puppies.

My puppies also come with paperwork including information about of the parents, copies of health certifications for both parents (OFA/CERF), feeding, socializing, care and training tips for the puppy and a copy of their written health warranty. I recommend you locate a 'puppy kindergarten' class, make contact with a veterinarian and take time to 'puppy-proof' your home and yard prior to your new family member arriving.

Almost all of Black Rock puppies are sold on AKC "Limited Registration" for companion homes with no intentions of competing in the show/obedience ring, qualifying in hunt tests or breeding.

AKC Rules Applying to Registration and Discipline, Amended to Jan. 1, 2001, Chapter 3: Registration, Section 4a:

"Limited Registration" may be requested for a dog when application for individual registration of the dog is submitted, provided the application, together with a request for such limitation, is filed by the owner(s) of the litter at birth.

No offspring of a dog for which "Limited Registration" has been granted is eligible for registration. Each registration certificate for such dog shall carry notice of the limitation, and the limitation shall continue, regardless of any change of ownership, unless and until the owner(s) of the litter at birth shall apply to AKC for removal of the limitation.

Note: "Limited Registration" allows you to register your Black Rock puppy with the AKC, however you will not be allowed to breed your Labrador or register any of its offspring.

The process:

I take deposits once the mother has been confirmed to be pregnant and/or puppies have been whelped. Anyone interested in a Black Rock Labrador Retriever puppy or adult/adolescent dog must complete an application.   Black Rock Labradors - Potential Puppy - Client Information.  I will personally review all applications and will select only the best applicants.

After review of your application and being approved, Dale Brummett will contact you and ask for a deposit to be sent, to secure your puppy.
